Professional Technical are working with a London based development company, specialising in implementing advanced nuclear technologies in commercial maritime for ocean transport and heavy industry. Their team is committed to delivering innovative solutions and engineering excellence in the maritime industry.
They are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Design Engineer who has proven experience in the Maritime and/or Nuclear Industry. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years hands-on experience with a background in electrical systems engineering.
They are looking for someone with a marine electrical power and data background including experience with diesel generators, switchboards, control systems, with a focus on the electrical elements including electrical generation, distribution architecture, emergency power, data and control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of onboard electrical power generation, distribution and control systems and ensure all electrical systems operate efficiently to support vessel operations.
Manage and oversee engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring quality, efficiency, and compliance with regulations and standards.
Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to understand project requirements, address concerns, and ensure project success.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to develop innovative solutions and design concepts that meet project objectives and client needs.
Perform engineering calculations, simulations, and modelling activities using specialised software tools and methodologies.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Ocean Engineering or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical systems engineering.
Strong knowledge in power systems with direct experience with generators, switchboards, and power management.
Knowledge of relevant regulations, classification rules, and industry standards governing marine engineering and ship design.
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Strong problem-solving skills, analytical abilities, and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and build rapport with clients and stakeholders.
Professional engineering license or certification is preferred but not required.
Previous experience working in a consulting or engineering firm serving the maritime industry is desirable.
