Mechanical Design Engineer - Robotics

I'm searching for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join a growing team with a robotics start-up is on the cutting edge of AI and automation, where your expertise will power the future of robots and push technological boundaries.

What you'll do:

  • Mechanical Design: Develop components and systems for humanoid robots, including body structures, joints, grippers, and end-effectors using CAD software.
  • Kinematics & Dynamics: Design robotic mechanisms and linkages for precise motion and manipulation, applying kinematic and dynamic principles.
  • Material Selection: Choose the right materials and manufacturing processes, balancing strength, weight, cost, and performance.
  • Optimisation: Optimise designs for efficiency, reliability, and performance, considering factors like payload, speed, and power consumption.
  • Prototyping: Build prototypes to test and validate designs, ensuring functionality and feasibility.
  • Assembly & Integration: Assemble mechanical components into robotic systems, working closely with electrical engineers and software developers.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure designs meet safety standards, conducting risk assessments and integrating necessary safety features.
  • Testing & Validation: Perform mechanical testing to ensure performance and durability, iterating on designs as needed.
  • Documentation: Create detailed design documentation, including technical drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions.
  • Collaboration: Work alongside cross-functional teams to achieve project goals and meet deadlines.

Your background:

  • Mechanical Engineering: Strong foundation in mechanical principles, including statics, dynamics, and machine design.
  • CAD Software: Proficient in CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, CATIA) for modeling, simulation, and design analysis.
  • Kinematics & Dynamics: Experience with robotic kinematics, trajectory planning, and motion control.
  • Material Science: Knowledge of materials used in robotics, including metals, plastics, and composites.
  • Manufacturing Processes: Familiar with CNC machining, 3D printing, and other fabrication techniques.
  • Prototyping Skills: Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping tools and techniques.
  • Safety Engineering: Understanding of safety standards (e.g., ISO 10218, ISO 13849) and risk assessment practices.
  • Attention to Detail: High precision in mechanical design and documentation.
