Are you an experienced Commercial Mechanical / Plumber with a knack for installations and maintenance? We’re looking for someone with a strong background in industrial or commercial environments to join our dynamic team. This full-time position offers a competitive rate of pay and requires at least 4 years of post-qualification experience in plumbing/heating reactive maintenance. All 4 days on 4 days off working 7 till 7, this does include some evenings and nights.

Principal Duties:

  • Perform plumbing and building maintenance tasks across the hospital.
  • Adhere to Mechanical HTMs for water systems, statutory regulations, and policies.
  • Ensure all work is conducted safely, following risk assessments.
  • Undertake essential repairs and general maintenance as directed.
  • Conduct planned preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Perform technical fault finding on complex mechanical systems.
  • Follow detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure materials used are safe and WRAS approved.
  • Be part of the emergency team for fire, security, and lift entrapments.
  • Inspect, maintain, and install equipment, plant, and systems.
  • Perform proactive maintenance tasks like disinfection and unblocking pipes.

General Duties:

  • Maintain personal and team health and safety.
  • Meet mandatory training and continuous professional development requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient records, employee information, and business data.
  • Attend team meetings and support the use of the intranet and email systems.
  • Cover shifts as necessary to maintain service levels.
  • Travel for courses, symposiums, or plant assessments as required.

Person Specification:

Experience:

  • Completion of a structured training program in mechanical engineering (minimum 3 years).
  • At least 4 years of post-qualification experience in mechanical maintenance.
  • Awareness of health & safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • Experience with Building Management Systems.

Desirable:

  • Experience in an acute hospital or similar complex environment.
  • Competence in ventilation, water, natural gas, and refrigeration systems.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to self-manage and work independently.
  • Adaptable to change and capable of working in a demand-driven service.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • City and Guilds Level 3 (Commercial Plumbing/Heating) or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant qualifications for vented/unvented systems maintenance.
  • Additional healthcare engineering credentials (e.g., BOAS, Pressurized Systems accreditation).
  • Valid references required.
