  • We are seeking a Principal Design Engineer for a contract role with a global design and engineering contractor based in London.
  • Candidates must have at least 10 years of relevant subsea engineering experience in the offshore oil and gas sector.
  • The role requires expertise in detailed FE analysis and subsea pipeline design, as well as a strong understanding of structural analysis and installation aspects.
  • A degree in civil, structural, or mechanical engineering is required, along with proficiency in FEA software such as Orcaflex and ANSYS.
  • The contract rate is negotiable, and applicants must be eligible to work in the UK, with the role allowing for remote work two days a week.

We are now recruiting for aPrincipal Design Engineerto work on a contract basis behalf of our client, a global design, engineering and installation contractor based in London.

We are looking for candidates with a structural or mechanical design engineering background within the offshore oil & gas sector, with at least 10 years relevant subsea engineering experience.

Skills Required:

  • Experienced in detailed FE analysis but also in general subsea pipeline and spools design activities, such as, wall thickness, stability, bottom roughness and freespan.
  • A comprehensive understanding of structural analysis, including, statics, dynamics and fatigue as well as installation and constructability aspects of pipeline systems.
  • Extensive experience in Subsea engineering with knowledge of typical subsea software tools is essential

Qualifications and Software:

  • Degree qualified in civil, structural or mechanical engineering discipline
  • FEA software Orcaflex, ANSYS, ABAQUS (2D shell and 3D solid elements) and hand calculations.
  • Knowledge of DNV SESAM, Sage Profile 2D and AutoPIPE will be a benefit.

Working hours: 5 days per week - 2 days per week remote working is possible.
