Professional Technical are collaborating with an established and leading Design Consultancy based in Central London. If you are a Principal Design Engineer with the ability to lead from the front, inspire team members and possess a long history of design service experience in the medical device development space, then this role could be for you.

As a Principal Design Engineer, you will be leading business development meetings, dealing with clients face to face to take design briefs, prepare and present proposals and ensure that all projects are created with innovative flare, considering all technical elements, cost feasibility and the review of all engineering output. Job Profile:

As a Principal Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Taking charge of new and legacy client meetings
  • Taking client briefs, preparation and presenting design proposals, design plans and client specifications
  • Leading and supporting teams and ensuring that projects are ran on time and to budget
  • Development of basic concepts and creating practical and solid solutions (strong experience in engineering mathematical calculations, 3D CAD modelling and FEA simulation is required)
  • Supervision of DFM (tolerances, technical engineering drawings and specifications)

Job Requirements:

As a Principal Design Engineer you will require the following:

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or extensive time served within the medical device industry
  • 15 years design service experience with some time served in a Senior Lead position
  • Advanced user of SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD modelling software
  • Familiarity with varied materials and engineering processes such as: plastic injection molding, machining, fabrication and casting
  • Strong ability with engineering analysis with tools such as FEA and CFD and GD&T
