Principal Mechanical Engineer

Are you a seasoned Mechanical Design Engineer with a passion for low-energy and sustainable building solutions? Do you thrive in a dynamic, client-facing role where you can lead projects from conception to completion?

The business are a boutique building services consultancy based in London, renowned for their commitment to developing innovative, sustainable solutions for buildings in and around the city as a trusted contractor partner, they work closely with their clients throughout the entire project lifecycle, from initial design to practical completion.

Role Overview: As the Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will lead the technical discipline across multiple projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, energy-efficient, and sustainable building solutions. You will mentor and guide junior engineers, while also engaging in hands-on design work. This role demands excellent communication skills, as you will liaise with a variety of stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities:

路Lead mechanical engineering projects from initial concept through to practical completion.
路Develop and implement low-energy and sustainable building solutions.
路Supervise and mentor junior engineers, fostering their professional growth.
路Engage in design work, ensuring technical excellence and innovation.
路Act as the primary point of contact for clients, contractors, and other stakeholders, ensuring clear and effective communication.
路Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.
路Oversee project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful project outcomes.

Requirements:

路Minimum of 8 years of experience in building services consultancy.
路Proven track record in leading mechanical engineering projects, particularly in the context of sustainable and low-energy solutions.
路Strong leadership skills, with experience in mentoring and guiding junior engineers.
路Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage relationships with various stakeholders.
路Hands-on design experience, with a focus on technical excellence.
路Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or equivalent professional recognition is highly desirable.
