Mechanical Reliability Technician - Essex
My client is a bulk liquid storage provider operating terminals strategically placed across the UK. They currently require a mechanical reliability technicianto be based permanently at their Thames site in Essex.
Role:
- Repairs to rotating equipment, e.g. mechanical seals, packed gland replacements, bearing replacements & oil changes.
- Valve preventative maintenance/overhaul and loading arm maintenance
- Maintenance of cranes, winches along with slinging, rigging and lifting.
- Assist in day-to-day management of ongoing maintenance tasks completed by third party Mechanical contractors.
- Ensure that all contractors working on the site comply with site rules and regulations.
- Execute safety critical equipment routines ensuring correct installation, checks and precautions are taken.
- Recommend and ensure actions on incident reports are recorded on the terminals system.
- Monitor and report on consumable stock levels.
- Complete scheduled and reactive mechanical maintenance on site.
- Terminal champion for all flanged connections ensuring compliance with company’s flanged connection procedures.
- Routine 3 monthly inspection of tanks including pressure vacuum valves and emergency vents.
- Making and breaking joints, replacement of in line equipment and piping e.g. filters, pressure sustaining valves, pressure vacuum valves / emergency vent replacements on tanks.
- Fire pump testing & assist in hose testing/pressure testing.
- Flame/spark arrestor inspections.
- Part of on-call rota providing planned support to ship connections/disconnections and emergency engineering support to site.
Requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience on chemical manufacturing or storage plant.
- Suitably qualified (NVQ engineering maintenance level 3) and / or time served mechanical technician.
- ECITB MJI10 hand torque bolted connection techniques.
- Ability to read P&IDs.
- Manual handling,asbestos awareness, CAF gasket removal, abrasive Wheels.
- Mechanical CompEx 11.
- COSHH awareness.
- Slinger and lifting training.
- IPAF 3a/3b – operator.
- PASMA mobile tower erection.
Salary/Package:
- £45k-£50k per annum DOE.
- Pension - 5% increases to 8%.
- Bupa health insurance/life assurance x 4 basic salary.
- 35 hours a week, mon-fri 08:00-1600. 1 hour lunch.
