Paralegal/Legal Assistant  - family experience is essential

We are an award-winning law firm looking for a Paralegal/ PA to work as part of the team in the Family Department.

Our Client offers specialist legal advice across a range of services. Whilst our clients number private individuals, businesses, trusts, charities and other organisations, they all expect the individual personal service and high level of expertise for which we are known.

The award-winning family team undertakes an extensive range of family law practice for private clients. This role is not eligible for hybrid working and as such the successful incumbent will be expected to work in the office, five days a week.

The role will require the successful candidate to fulfil a hybrid function, acting in part as Legal Assistant (c. 30%) to partners and for the remainder of the time to provide paralegal services to them and the fee earners who support them. The role will be developed and managed with the intention that both aspects of the role take equal precedence.

Experience:                        A law degree or other legal qualification, and a minimum of one year’s experience of working as a Paralegal in Family law

Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be the focal point of contact for this practice area in the Family department.  This is a varied and busy role with duties ranging from effective diary management to attending Client meetings and assisting with a range of case work as directed.

Particular responsibilities are likely to include:

  • Providing administrative support to partners and associates in the preparation of case documents and correspondence
  • Collation and preparation of court bundles and other bundles of documents
  • Assisting with preparation for internal and external meetings
  • Liaising with clients as required by partners and associates
  • Liaising with clients and fee earners to organise meetings
  • Assisting with marketing and BD arrangements where necessary.
  • Taking telephone calls and messages for fee earners. 
  • E-filing and making sure everything is saved correctly to DMS in house style.
  • Flag emails that have not been actioned
  • Document production and reformatting documents to ensure all in line with house style
  • Generating template correspondence/draft documentation
  • Finance – Preparing posting slips for money coming in and going out; Managing the Billing process
  • Any other ad hoc duties as requested by team members
  • Preparing forms using Quantum
  • Assisting in monitoring the number of bundles on Bundledocs and amalgamating as necessary
  • Organising for a fee earner to contact digital enquiries via email, Moneypenny, Settify and Quecha and for conflict searches to be circulated
