Assistant Banqueting Manager Prestigious Private Members' Club (St Jamess, London)

The Carlton Club, one of St Jamess most prestigious Private Members Clubs, is seeking a passionate and hands-on Assistant Banqueting Manager to join our exceptional Food & Beverage team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who takes pride in delivering excellent service and enjoys being actively involved in day-to-day operations.

Hours of Work:

  • Minimum 40 hours per week, typically over 5 days (MondayFriday), but flexibility is required, including weekends when needed.
  • Start and finish times vary according to a weekly rota, and you will generally be expected to be available for both lunchtime and evening service throughout the week.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Banqueting Manager and the team in delivering exceptional service to our Members and their Guests
  • Being actively involved in setting up and preparing rooms and tables for service according to function sheets and event details
  • Supervising events, leading and assisting staff members, and ensuring all last-minute changes are handled efficiently
  • Training and developing banqueting staff members, fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork
  • Assisting with administrative duties, including scheduling the weekly rota in collaboration with the Banqueting Manager.
  • Supervising assigned events and liaising with the Events Office and Kitchen on changes to original instructions, ensuring that all changes are made seamlessly
  • Assisting other outlets when required, such as Morning/Drawing Rooms and Bars

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience within a similar role
  • In-depth knowledge of banqueting and event setup for a variety of functions
  • A hands-on leader who enjoys working on the floor and setting high service standards
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to do any aspects of the job
  • A positive, flexible, and can-do attitude
  • Ability to support the management and work well within our friendly team
