Retail Store Designer/ Freelance - Hybrid, UK & Europe

The Retail Store Designer is responsible for creating visually appealing, functional, and customer-centric store layouts that enhance the shopping experience while aligning with the company’s brand identity. This role combines creativity, technical expertise, and knowledge of retail trends to develop designs that optimize space, improve customer flow, and support merchandising strategies.

Key Responsibilities:Store Design & Layout:

• Develop innovative and functional retail store layouts that maximize space efficiency and align with brand aesthetics.• Create detailed floor plans, elevations, and 3D renderings for new stores, remodels, or renovations.• Incorporate customer journey mapping and traffic flow analysis into designs to enhance shopping experiences.

Brand Alignment:

• Ensure all designs reflect the company’s brand standards, visual identity, and design guidelines.• Collaborate with the marketing and visual merchandising teams to ensure consistency across all retail touchpoints.

Collaboration & Coordination:

• Work closely with architects, contractors, and project managers to ensure designs are implemented accurately and on schedule.• Partner with store operations and merchandising teams to address functionality and adaptability in the design process.• Work closely with Visual Merchandising team to support and deliver in-store installations and layout changes.

Material Selection & Sustainability:

• Research and specify materials, finishes, and fixtures that align with the company’s sustainability goals and budget requirements.• Stay updated on sustainable design practices and trends in retail environments.

Innovation & Trends:

• Stay current with emerging retail trends, technologies, and customer behaviours to incorporate fresh ideas into designs.• Introduce innovative design solutions that enhance customer engagement and drive sales.

Project Management:

• Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget.• Prepare presentations, design proposals, and reports for key stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in interior design, Architecture, or a related field.

• Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in retail design, interior design, or architectural roles.• Proven track record of delivering retail projects from concept to completion.

Skills:• Proficiency in design software -Vectorworks (preferred), AutoCAD, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite.• Strong understanding of space planning and material selection.• Excellent project management and organizational skills.• Ability to communicate design concepts effectively through sketches, drawings, and presentations.Attributes:• Creativity with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.• Collaborative mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
