Salary: 46,000 per annum + 3k shift allowance
Shift Pattern: Continental shift pattern (days and nights)

Role Overview:


As a Deputy Lead Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining the smooth operation of critical systems in a demanding environment. You will be working on a continental shift pattern, ensuring 24/7 coverage, and will be responsible for managing both day and night shifts. You will also provide technical leadership and ensure the safe, effective, and efficient maintenance of electrical systems, working closely with the Lead Engineer to support the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Lead Engineer in managing a team of engineers to deliver a high standard of service.
  • Ensure all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance tasks are carried out to strict deadlines.
  • Supervise, coordinate, and mentor team members during shift patterns, ensuring compliance with company standards and health and safety regulations.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical systems within the facility, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption.
  • Manage and oversee all electrical work, including switchgear, control panels, and power distribution systems.
  • Ensure the safe operation and maintenance of critical assets and infrastructure.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth communication and efficient task completion.
  • Maintain detailed records of work carried out and provide reports to management as required.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of operational procedures to improve efficiency and safety.
  • Act as a point of contact for any escalated engineering issues.

Key Requirements:

  • Electrically qualified (City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations or equivalent).
  • Experience working in a critical environment (e.g., data centres, hospitals, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, including fault diagnosis and repairs.
  • Desirable: HV (High Voltage) Authorisation or experience working with HV systems.
  • Experience leading or supervising a team in a facilities management environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure, especially in high-stakes situations.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in using relevant software for maintenance reporting and tracking.
