Mobile Diagnostic/Service Engineer – Bus & Coach

A leading mobile diagnostic and support service for Bus & Coach operators is looking for skilled and motivated engineers to join our growing team. Specialising in Electric, Hybrid & Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles we deliver top-tier inspection, diagnostics, and maintenance services while maintaining high standards of customer satisfaction.

This varied role will present the successful candidates’ opportunities to develop their technical skillset whilst also gaining leadership/management experience.

Previous Bus & Coach experience is not a necessity however candidates should have some form of Auto Electrics/EV qualifications and/or experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct diagnostics and repairs on a range of bus and coach brands using the latest licensed software.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical fault diagnosis to deliver a "fix first time" service.
  • Handle diagnostics, calibration, and reprogramming for major systems such as WABCO and Cummins.
  • Provide fleet maintenance services, including MOT preparation, vehicle inspections, and breakdown assistance.
  • Support customers with shift cover, workshop supervision, and management when needed.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations through operator audits and reporting.
  • Participate in campaign work, including safety recalls and collaboration with dealerships.

Essential Criteria:

  • NVQ/SVQ/City & Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or similar discipline.
  • A valid UK Driving Licence (clean preferred, but all considered).
  • IRTEC accreditation (Bus & Coach preferred) or willingness to obtain this qualification with company support.

Desirable Requirements:

  • 4+ years of post-apprenticeship work experience.
  • High Voltage training or electrical certification is a plus.
  • Eagerness to learn and grow through professional development, with opportunities for IMI Level 4 HV training and IRTEC accreditation.
