Spider is advertising on behalf of an independent educational research institute who are experts in the UK Pension system and dedicated to improving later life outcomes! They are looking for an External Relations Officer to join their team in London on a full-time permanent basis.

About the role:

In this External Relations Officer role, you will be reporting directly to the Head of External Relations and play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and reputation of our institute. Your primary focus will be on developing and executing communication strategies that engage and strengthen relationships with our external stakeholders. 

Key duties will include:

  • Collaborate with management to shape impactful communication strategies that elevate the institute's image. 
  • Draft compelling press releases, newsletters, articles, blogs, social media posts, and website copy that resonate with diverse audiences. 
  • Create engaging graphics and infographics for use across various platforms to visually communicate our research and insights. 
  • Cultivate strong relationships with media representatives, parliamentarians, government officials, and other stakeholders to effectively promote the institute's mission. 
  • Regularly monitor communications and external engagements, record their impact, and assist in preparing the annual report. 
  • Maintain and optimise the website and social media accounts, ensuring they reflect brand identity. 
  • Research, maintain, and update stakeholder contact lists to ensure effective communication flow.

You possess exceptional written and verbal skills, with a strong background in drafting correspondence and executing communication plans. Your ability to distil complex information into accessible materials, coupled with a solid understanding of the UK's political system and the pensions landscape, makes you an ideal candidate.
