Deputy Nursery Manager - Finchley

Salary:£35-38k

Purpose of the job: To assist the Nursey Manager with and deputise in the absence of the Nursey Manager the following aims:

·Provide safe, High Quality Care and Education for the children aged between 3 months and five years on a daily basis.

·To fulfil legal and statutory requirements as stated by the governing body OFSTED, EYFS, Safeguarding, Fire Safety Regulations, Health and Safety Regulations, Local Authority Regulations, Food Safety.

·To supervise and assist all members of staff on a day to day basis.

·To contribute to and implement the Nursery’s policies and procedures.

·To liaise with Professional Bodies associated with The Rocking Horse Nursery.

·To be committed to continuous professional development and promote this within the Nursery.

·To be a positive role model for staff, parents and children at all times.

Main Duties:

·To assist the Nursery Manager with the smooth running of the nursery.

·To take responsibility for opening and closing procedures of the Nursery.

·To continuously monitor and recommend improvements for quality in all working areas to the Nursery Manager.

·To work with the Manager and staff on the implementation of policies and procedures.

·To take a lead with the planning and documentation of the Early Years Foundation Stage ensuring that learning outcomes are being attained for the children by all the staff.

·To supervise the Curriculum Planning & Learning Journeys in accordance with the EYFS across all rooms in the Nursery. To ensure that all documentation is accurately completed and up to date.

·To ensure that personal, physical, social, spiritual, emotional, cultural and moral needs are adequately addressed and to actively involve in supporting children in their achievements of planned objectives and goals.

·Liaise closely with parents and carers ensuring that the children’s needs are recognised and met.

·Supervise Third in charge, Room Leaders, Nursery Nurses, Assistants, Cook and Cleaners as directed by the Nursery Manager.

·Advise the Nursery Manager of any concerns e.g. over children, parents, staff or health and safety issues, preserving confidentiality as necessary.

·To keep confidential any information regarding the children, their families or other staff that is acquired as part of the job.

·To attend in-service training courses and meetings as required and cascade information to staff.

·To attend staff meetings, chair meetings, take minutes and present to Nursery Manager.

·To monitor stock levels of consumables and to order/purchase/procure items as they may be required.

·To ensure adherence to Food Hygiene regulations and conduct daily / weekly and full monthly kitchen inspections.

·To ensure correct usage of equipment in the Nursery and encourage staff, parents and children to treat the nursery and contents with care and respect.

·To undertake any other reasonable duties as directed by the manager, in accordance with the nursery’s objectives.
