Main duties & responsibilities

  1. Role Overview
    1. As the HR Business Insight Advisor, you will work closely with the HR Business Partners to provide coaching, advice, and guidance on management activities that impact the delivery of business objectives. Being a vital link between the business and other HR teams, the role provides a two-way channel for positive challenge to the business for planning activity and direct feedback to the HR function.
  2. Key Responsibilities                                                  
    1. Review, analyse & report on HR management information relating to the business, identifying key areas of challenge and risk to address within the business
    2. Provide positive challenge to planning activities to ensure they are well considered before being implemented, reducing the risk of bad practice.
    3. Support the HR Business Partners by taking on initial requests from the business, enabling the HRBPs to remain in the strategic space.
    4. Provide second-line support and expert advice for complex queries relating to the interpretation and application of HR policies.
    5. Work collaboratively with the team of HR Business Partners to support people services across the business, assisting with developing manager capability, ensuring HR best practice & an excellent HR customer brand is maintained.
    6. Support managers with complex queries relating to individual issues such as performance, capability, resource management, probation and sickness, directing through to the appropriate team and material as required.
    7. Provide high quality, professional, up to date, expert, consistent advice, support, and practice.
    8. Working collaboratively with HR colleagues and teams, ensure processes and policies remain fit for purpose by listening to feedback and taking appropriate action. Taking part in core projects as required.
    9. Support end-to-end organisational transformation by taking a lead HR role to support implementation plans, providing feedback on the potential impact of workplace changes to the relevant project manager.
    10. Support the rollout and embedding of key HR initiatives to increase employee engagement and the uptake of new ways of working.                                                         
  3. Experience
    1. Working within a unionised, complex, public-sector environment & the associated ways of working.
    2. Providing advice and guidance to managers on complex HR matters, ensuring understanding and encouraging a risk-based approach to action.
    3. Gathering feedback and providing insight across a range of sources, from qualitative information from managers through to data & insight from HR management information.
    4. Working with range of HR systems and teams to create holistic reports of data and insights to improve management capability and outcomes.
    5. Creation of engaging content and having facilitated meetings with a range of stakeholders, including running workshops to develop management skills to deliver against.
    6. Experience of working in an operational environment with a dispersed workforce.
    7. Experience of working within an HR Shared Services structure would be desirable.
  1. Knowledge
    1. CIPD Level 5 qualification, or a willingness to work towards.
    2. Current Employee Relations knowledge, case management.
    3. Demonstrable evidence of continuous professional development.
    4. Understanding and curiosity of good and best people practice
