Job Overview:We are seeking a skilled and experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join the neuro team at St George's NHS Trust. The role focuses on the assessment and management of patients with complex needs, including those recovering from trauma, neurosurgery, and neuro-oncology cases. This position plays a crucial part in patient recovery and effective discharge planning.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including motor, sensory, cognitive, and functional evaluations.
- Develop and implement tailored care and rehabilitation plans.
- Plan and coordinate safe and effective patient discharges.
- Provide expertise in specialist seating and equipment recommendations.
- Make and document mental capacity decisions in compliance with NHS standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure holistic patient care.
- Maintain detailed and accurate patient records using systems such as iClip.
Requirements:
- HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist.
- Minimum 6 months NHS experience in a similar role.
- Familiarity with iClip notes system (desirable).
- Proven experience in rehabilitation, working with older adults and patients with physical and cognitive deficits.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills in a healthcare setting.
