Brief Job Description:

42-bed rehabilitation ward

The ward comprises of patients requiring ongoing assessment and therapy intervention, including facilitation and planning of discharge.

Patients are predominantly over the age of 65, though we do also have some younger patients with ongoing rehab needs

Patients on the ward may be admitted for a variety of medical reasons , including frailty, falls, trauma, neurological conditions, and a variety of other conditions. Patients often present with multiple comorbidities, and there is the opportunity to work with patients with both physical and cognitive deficits.

The occupational therapist role is to undertake occupational therapy assessments for a designated caseload, using a variety of different techniques including standardised and non-standardised assessments, to make an accurate assessment of client need. This includes functional and cognitive assessments, as well as discharge planning - there may be potential for joint access visits into patients homes, if required.

The role involves working directly with MDT members on the ward, and will include delegation of tasks to rehabilitation assistants

You will be supported by a highly experienced OT Lead

Any specific requests: (e.g. agency/staff)

Experience/ currently trained and competent with iclip notes system is strongly desirable, given short nature of the locum cover
