Occupational Therapist- Greenwich, London

We are looking for an Occupation Therapist who is passionate about working with children with additional needs to join this friendly Special Needs School for children with Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities, Physical Disabilities, and Complex Medical Needs.

You will provide tailored therapy to children as part of their ongoing therapy to support their academic and personal development. You will be required to deliver high quality assessment, treatment, and advice to pupils, and to give feedback and advice to staff in the school.

You will work alongside the Therapy Lead to plan and deliver high quality occupational therapy services to the students and their families/carers, including service reviews. You will be responsible for providing support and supervision to junior staff, and for supporting and training teaching staff with regard to interventions.

This is an exciting opportunity to grow and develop as an Occupational Therapist in an education setting.

Requirements for Occupational Therapist:

  • Degree or diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • UK HPC Registration
  • Experience with children who have severe/profound and multiple learning disabilities
  • Strong levels of communication, both written and verbal
  • Ability to assess and prescribe appropriate specialist equipment
  • There will be regular manual handling in this role
  • Many of the children have complex physical disabilities and health needs. These include challenging behaviour and mental health issues

As an Occupational Therapist you will be expected to collaborate with professionals including:

  • Students and their parents/carers and advocates
  • Staff of the school
  • External and internal professionals working with the students
  • Community services
  • Primary Care Trust and other relevant PCTs
