Job Overview

We are looking for a Band 6 Children's Physiotherapist to join our team at Alexandra Avenue Health & Social Care Centre Primary Care Hub. The successful candidate will work with children aged 5-19 with physical disabilities in both mainstream and special school settings, as well as children with MSK conditions and respiratory management needs in a district general hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage a specialist caseload of children with physical disabilities and profound learning difficulties within special and mainstream schools.
  • Provide physiotherapy intervention for children aged 0-16 with MSK conditions.
  • Cover the paediatric ward on an ad-hoc basis, including respiratory and orthopaedic management.
  • Assess and prescribe specialist equipment in educational settings, including manual handling.
  • Conduct assessments, write reports, and provide therapy programmes for children in clinic and school settings.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (OT, SLT) to ensure highly specialist therapy programmes are in place.
  • Support, train, and upskill parents, carers, and teaching staff in therapy interventions.
  • Travel between schools to provide physiotherapy services and work collaboratively with Health, Education, and Social Services.
Requirements:
  • HCPC-registered Physiotherapist with NHS experience.
  • Previous experience working with children in both NHS and educational settings.
  • Strong knowledge of paediatric physiotherapy, including MSK, respiratory, and orthopaedic management.
  • Experience in working in a multidisciplinary team and liaising with education and social care professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload across multiple locations.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
  • Face-to-face role requiring hands-on therapy interventions.
