Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join the Medical Rehabilitation team at West Middlesex Hospital. This position has been created to provide critical support during the winter pressure period, working across several departments, including general medicine, care of the elderly, frailty, neurology, and orthopaedic outliers. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse patient population.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality occupational therapy services across various specialities: elderly care, orthopaedics, general medicine, and neurology.
  • Assess and plan comprehensive discharge strategies to ensure seamless transitions for patients returning to their homes or other care settings.
  • Work autonomously and efficiently in high-pressure situations, particularly during peak winter demand.
  • Utilize a sound clinical understanding of falls, cognitive impairment, and common pathologies associated with frailty syndrome to inform patient care and intervention.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide holistic and effective patient-centered care.
RequirementsEssential Criteria
  • Active HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist
  • Demonstrated NHS acute experience in occupational therapy
  • Proficiency in discharge planning
  • Relevant experience in acute medicine, elderly care, orthopaedics, and neurology
Desirable Criteria
  • Availability to work over the Christmas period
