Occupational Therapy Assistant

Full Time: 36/hrs a week Mon - Fri

Hatched Recruitment is working closely with the local authorities and we are looking for a Occupational Therapy Assistant to work in adaptations team. Role is to contact and assess residents who are waiting for an adaptation to make their property accessible. You will work with families of disabled children, older people and adults with a disability or long term health condition to support their independence through the provision of equipment and adaptations. You will have excellent verbal and written communication, be confident with IT processes and applications and have excellent customer care skills.

There is an opportunity to developed skills in social care assessments and learn from OTs. You will have experience working in customer care and with older or disable people.

Role Purpose

1. To work with people with disabilities to encourage independence and choice within the community.

2. To undertakes all assessments from a strengths-based perspective so that the independence of all assessed clients is promoted and maximised

3. To ensure the provision of effective advice and guidance arising from the assessment

4. To ensure the most appropriate equipment/adaptations are provided to the client

5. To undertake carer's assessments and reviews in accordance with the statutory/regulatory and operational standards, policy and procedures

Skills and experience

  • To keep accurate and up to date case records and written reports using council's IT systems and in line with statutory and local protocols.
  • To provide guidance and information concerning Occupational Therapy service provision to other agencies, e.g. Housing Associations, Carer Agencies.
  • To maintain effective working relationships across services within Adult Social Care, as well as other agencies including Acute Hospital NHS trusts, Mental Health service, D/Ns, GPs, voluntary organisations and independent care service providers.
