Our client, a multifaceted museum based in South West London are looking for an IT and AV Support Technician to join their existing team. The role will be predominantly IT with the AV aspects picked up whilst in the role.
The Role
- The IT and AV Support Technician is responsible for providing support to users of the museum’s IT systems via helpdesk, self-support, and face to face on the various technologies in use within the museum including Windows and Apple desktops, the MS Office suite, and other internal systems along with Active Directory and Office 365 administration.
- The post holder will also support the AV function and other projects/works within the IT Department as required.
Job description IT function
- Support the maintenance of IT systems and equipment, investigating and resolving issues in a timely manner and ensuring that service users are updated on progress.
- Proactive identifying and resolution of IT issues, and feedback on opportunities to improve systems and services.
- Liaise with third party IT suppliers/vendors to ensure desktop, laptop and mobile device incidents and problems are resolved in a timely and professional manner.
- Administration of user accounts (i.e., joiners, movers, and leavers) in Active Directory, Office 365, and other museum systems including CRM/Endpoint/JAMF/Teams/Aerohive/FortiGate.
- Onboarding new starters including, provisioning of new equipment and the delivery of an IT induction and AUP.
- Administer purchase orders for hardware and licence renewals.
- Prioritise and schedule assigned support activities and tasks on our support desk system.
- Maintain and deliver the renewals schedule for licences.
- Maintain and develop technical support and 'Help’ documentation.
- Participate in major incident activities as required.
AV function
- Audit and testing of conferencing spaces /rooms.
- Configuration of specific presentation software for exhibition/gallery iPads (Kiosk Pro).
- Under the supervision of the AV and IT Analyst, work collaboratively with internal and external technical teams to prepare services for events.
- Under the supervision of the AV and IT Analyst, rig and de-rig audio, lighting, audio visual, video/data, sets and display equipment in accordance with general health and safety regulations and procedures.
- Support the operation of audio-visual technical equipment on events as required, trouble shooting and escalating issues as necessary to the AV and IT Technician.
Essential knowledge, skills, and experience
- Keen interest in IT systems with a systematic approach to solving technical issues.
- Experience of taking ownership of issues and resolving them, either directly or by escalating them as appropriate.
- Demonstrable experience in customer focussed service delivery.
- Adept at creating self-help guides and contributing to written reports and instructions based on IT users' technical knowledge.
- Understanding of the need to ensure compliance with Data protection legislation and departmental systems and processes.
- A willingness to uphold high standards of health and safety practice and demonstrate these standards to others.
Desirable
- At least 1 years’ experience of performing a similar role in the museum or at other similar organisations.
- Knowledge of Visio, Endpoint and JAMF
- Experience working as part of an effective and highly skilled team.
- Understanding and awareness of upholding privacy and data protection laws.
