Our lovely 18-year-old client with Cerebral Palsy is looking for a compassionate Carer to whom he can entrust a high level of care. He is a very sociable young man who loves music and cuddles and is looked after by his parents and established team of carers who help him with all aspects of his care. If you are looking for an enriching role within a loving family environment and are reliable, patient and caring please get in contact with us.

The Role/Client:

K lives with his parents and requires 24/7 care, provided by his current team and parents.   He has Cerebral Palsy following a severe brain injury at birth and as a result, K is a full time wheelchair user.  There is a hoist in his home but this is usually not used at night so you would need to be physically fit to help move our client during the night when required. K enjoys music and re-assuring cuddles. K is non-verbal and does not have aids to communicate and you will be trained to anticipate his needs by changes in his body language to ensure his comfort.

You will assist with K’s personal care, administering medication, meal preparation, feeding and manual handling - K receives nutrition via PEG with occasional oral feeding, full training will be given in this area. You will promote K’s independence and enable him to access the community. You will facilitate his overall development, including implementing his physiotherapy programme. There is a 6-month probationary period.

About You:

This role offers excellent training, but you do need to have worked in a waking night role previously.  We are looking for a candidate with a caring personality and a willingness to learn and look after K on a one-to-one basis at night (usually two-to-one during the day) whilst working closely with the current team and family.

You will be physically fit as K still feeds in his parents’/carers’ lap.  K weighs approximately 32kg.

You will be kind, positive, reliable, and able to build a relationship of trust with our client his family and the care team.
