Florida State University in London seeking Instructor in Archaeology

Florida State University seeks an instructor to teach an introductory undergraduate course in archaeology and associated lab course at its London study centre in Bloomsbury for Fall 2025. The semester runs from 3 September to 12 December 2025. All teaching is done face to face and classes begin on Monday, 8 September. Lecture classes meet once a week in a 3.15-hour block, on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays. Lab classes meet for 1 hour per week. Class size is typically 8 to 20 students.

ANT2100 Introduction to Archaeology is a 3-credit course in modern anthropological archaeology, introducing students to the interdisciplinary scientific approaches employed in contemporary archaeological research and providing an overview of the origins and evolution of human social and economic systems. ANT2100L is a 1-credit lab course providing exercises in archaeological methodology and designed to teach specific analytical techniques of palaeontological and zooarchaeological analysis and geophysical survey.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in archaeology, with field and teaching experience. Some acquaintance with US undergraduate education is desirable. More information about our program can be found at www.international.fsu.edu/london.

The remuneration will be £3,800 for ANT2100 and £1900 for ANT2100L class sessions and associated preparation and marking.
