A young, fast-growth FinTech business with a truly global footprint are seeking a Global Senior Payroll Manager with a strong International payroll background to join the team asap. They operate remotely, so this position would be fully remote based with occasional travel.

The Global Payroll Senior Manager will oversee the Payroll Team and ensure the accurate and timely processing of payroll and related activities. This role involves managing inputs from various departments, ensuring compliance with Social Security and Personnel Income Tax Reporting, and addressing employee inquiries related to payroll and bene?ts. The Global Payroll Senior Manager will also play a key role in optimizing and automating payroll processes, participating in ?nancial reporting, and supporting payroll system setups and transitions.

The successful candidate would be responsible for managing the global payroll of 600, of which over half are located in Portugal, 100 or so across the Americas & the rest scattered around the world. Good knowledge of Portuguese payroll & legislation is a non-negotiable for the successful candidate.

The business currently has a number of local payroll providers in the countries operated within, and initially the Global Senior Payroll Manager will be responsible for delivering a project to bring the payrolls together under the roof of one of the global Payroll bureau (ADP) with ongoing responsibilities for:-

Payroll Team Management:

  • Lead and manage the Payroll Team, coordinating inputs from HR, Operations, and ERP systems.
  • Ensure all payroll processes are carried out accurately and on time.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with Social Security and Personnel Income Tax Reporting requirements.
  • Handle reconciliations and respond to reporting queries promptly and accurately

Employee Payroll and Bene?ts Management:

  • Manage employee requests related to payroll and company bene?ts, including meal allowances and global bene?ts.
  • Communicate with external providers regarding bene?ts and manage the review and approval of wellbeing allowances and their tax implications.

Financial Coordination:

  • Coordinate month-end tasks with the Finance Team, including accruals, holiday pay, Christmas bonuses, and bene?ts.
  • Participate in the preparation of monthly and annual ?nancial statements and assist in external audits.

Process Optimization and Implementation:

  • Assist in the automation and optimization of existing payroll processes. Implement new processes to drive e?ciency and improve payroll operations.

System Setup and Project Support:

  • Support the setup of payroll systems, including data migration and transition projects. Ensure a smooth transition and accurate data handling during system changes.

You Have & You Know How:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related ?eld.
  • Proven experience (at least 8 years) in payroll management and team leadership.
  • Strong understanding of wide-ranging International payroll processes, Social Security, and Personnel Income Tax Reporting - Portuguese is a MUST
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Pro?ciency in payroll software and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate e?ectively with employees and external providers.
  • Experience with process automation and optimization is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ?nancial reporting and audits.
