Knowledge and Skills 4. Able to incorporate and adapt if necessary, the philosophy to meet the client and design team objectives. 5. Understand a project from a holistic view point. Be able to interpret the space, function and client requirements into a lighting design from conception to completion. 6. Understand the technical terms used for various project types and be able to communicate these both verbally and in written form within design documentation. 7. Comprehensive working knowledge and application of lighting codes, regulations and guidelines. Understand the impact of these documents on the lighting design process. Ability to take accurate light measurements using a Light Meter interpreting the outputs correctly. A full and complete understanding of wiring. Technical Execution 8. Communicate with and lead the project team in the development of the concept into the developed design/technical design stages, successfully interpreting the concept into a technically achievable design that has clarity and consistency throughout. 9. Design and fully detail a custom or bespoke light fitting. Ensure that details are consistent and co-ordinated throughout the project. 10. Full knowledge of all control systems available, with knowledge of full technical parameters to determine the correct selection and detailed specification. 11. Identify the lighting equipment required to meet the project design and technical requirements and objectives. 12. Review, revise and manipulate the design in the interests of the budget to preserve the integrity of the scheme during Value Engineering exercises. Page 2 of 4 13. Have a global understanding of the various codes, standards and legislative requirements that may be requested on a project and how they impact on the client objectives. 14. Able to commission a Large sized project (Yacht, Hotel) without supervision to achieve the intended design. Able to independently negotiate Client authorisation of additional scope and fee prior to commencing the work. Manage and plan the project programmes of a number of projects to ensure that collectively timescales and resources planned are realistic and achievable. Project Management 15. Able to independently negotiate Client authorisation of additional scope and fee prior to commencing the work. Able to plan and manage the work of several projects in relation to their Fee Proposals and able to forward plan this work in relation to the monthly invoicing. Ability to negotiate fee and settle disputes. 17. Help to develop and manage efficient filing systems company-wide. 18. Obtain and manage luminaire samples from suppliers using the sample library system. Oversee the continued maintenance of the samples library, taking responsibility for its content and upkeep. 19. Provide effective solutions. Manage issues that arise during the duration of the project and provide effective solutions.
