The RoleKey responsibilities include:
- A Pest Control Officer is responsible for conducting surveys of properties to identify infestations and determine appropriate treatments.
- Undertaking pest control treatments, including baiting, poisoning, and trapping of rodents and other pests.
- Collaborating with the Repairs Service team to manage pest control activities effectively.
- Maintaining and deploying equipment and materials in accordance with regulations.
- Collecting payments from customers and issuing receipts as per council procedures.
- Implementing pigeon and rodent proofing measures, including faecal matter removal.
- Keeping accurate records, preparing reports, and completing necessary documentation.
- Conducting emergency pest control visits, including work outside normal office hours.
- Ensuring the safe handling, storage, and use of pesticides and other hazardous materials.
- Liaising with tenants, property owners, and council departments to provide advice and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Attending meetings, providing reports, and representing the council in legal matters when required.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in pest control, including identification and treatment of infestations.
- Knowledge of relevant pest control legislation, codes of practice, and health and safety regulations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with residents, businesses, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends when required.
- A full UK driving licence (desirable but not essential).
