Position Overview:
We are expanding our Commercial Gas Team and are seeking experienced Commercial Combustion Engineers to deliver exceptional service across our London borough contracts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out reactive and planned works on various commercial gas appliances, heating systems, and other mechanical plant equipment in boiler houses.
  • Perform annual servicing, maintenance, inspection, and repair of commercial boilers.
  • Execute small works, basic wet plumbing, installation, and refurbishment on building services and heating systems.
  • Produce technical reports and complete gas servicing records via a PDA system where necessary.
  • Diagnose faults and repair leaks on all heating and gas systems.
  • Work closely with the electrical and BMS teams to resolve issues requiring cross-team collaboration.
  • Attend to emergency works and ensure systems are made safe in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
  • Conduct safety checks in line with current gas safety legislation and standards.
  • Attend relevant training sessions to maintain professional competency and industry skills.
  • Work within set Service Level Agreements (SLA) and ensure real-time job updates are provided through the PDA system.
  • Collaborate with the planning and procurement teams to ensure correct parts are ordered and installed efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment on all jobs.
  • Uphold a professional image and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and encourage better working practices to meet customer needs.

Qualifications:

  • Gas Safe Registered.
  • Possession of the following ACS qualifications: CoDNCO1, CIGA1, TPCP1A, CDGA1, CCN1.
  • L1-Energy Conservation (C&G 6084).
  • CENWAT, CKR1.
  • Water Regulations 1999 & Water Byelaws.
  • Installation & Servicing of Domestic Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems.
  • Desirable ACS qualifications: CORT1, ICPN1.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  • Experience:

Minimum of 5 years' experience commissioning, servicing, and repairing pumps, pressurisation units, plate heat exchangers, and boilers ranging from 65kW to 6MW.

Experience with forced draft burners (e.g., Riello, Nuway, Wieshaupt) and commercial boilers (e.g., Remeha, Hoval, Cochran, Potterton, Hamworthy).

Familiarity with BMS controls (Trend, Honeywell, Seachange) and flue proving systems.

Proficient in the use of PDA systems to communicate with planning teams.

Understanding of single and three-phase electrical systems and safe working practices.

Experience in the repair and installation of plant equipment.

Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 (HASAWA) and practices within the building services sector.

Familiarity with gas-fired water heaters in commercial settings.

Skills:

Strong decision-making skills with a pragmatic and efficient approach.

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information to non-technical audiences.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.

Well-organised, with a strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a tidy work environment.

Capability to investigate issues in commercial gas/heating systems and produce detailed reports with recommendations.

Ability to learn new processes quickly in a fast-paced environment.
