Science Technician

Are you passionate about science and eager to support the next generation of scientists? Our dynamic and inclusive secondary school in Greenwich is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our team immediately. This is a full-time, long-term position with a competitive salary range based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up laboratory equipment and materials for science lessons, ensuring all apparatus is ready for use.
  • Assist teaching staff during practical science lessons and demonstrations.
  • Maintain an organised and safe laboratory environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations.
  • Manage the inventory of lab equipment and chemicals, placing orders as needed.
  • Support in the development and implementation of new practical activities and experiments.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to both staff and students during practical sessions.
  • Carry out routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment.
  • Ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials in accordance with school policies and legal requirements.

Requirements:

  • A passion for science and education.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Previous experience as a science technician is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • A DBS on the update service is required.
