Job Overview:As a Science Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the Science Faculty by organizing and delivering technical services to aid the teaching of Science subjects at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. Working under the guidance of the Senior Science Technician, you will ensure the smooth operation of practical lessons, equipment management, and compliance with health and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in setting up, maintaining, and clearing away equipment for practical lessons and exams.
  • Provide technical support to staff and students, including practical demonstrations.
  • Ensure the safe storage and maintenance of chemicals, apparatus, and materials, in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor stock levels and help procure necessary materials and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment usage, repairs, and testing, including COSHH compliance.
  • Support the development and improvement of laboratory facilities.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of Science subjects and curriculum requirements.
  • MUST have previous experience as a technician
  • Understanding of relevant health and safety regulations.
  • Experience in using and maintaining laboratory equipment.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage tasks independently.
  • IT literate with experience in recording and managing stock electronically.
  • BTEC/HND or equivalent in a relevant scientific or technical field (desirable).
  • Experience working in a similar role, preferably within a school environment.

Additional Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS disclosure required.
  • Willingness to undertake additional training as required.
  • Need to be able to work full time 8am - 4pm with 1 hour break
