Key Responsibilities:

  • Resource Preparation: Assist in the setup and organization of materials for science experiments, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Resource Management: Handle the storage, transportation, and availability of laboratory resources, including stock control and supplier coordination.
  • ICT Support: Facilitate the integration of technology into science lessons by managing laptops and data logging tools.
  • Waste Disposal: Safely manage the disposal of laboratory waste, including chemicals and biological substances.
  • Laboratory Maintenance: Maintain laboratory facilities and liaise with the Site Manager to address maintenance needs.
  • Technical Support: Provide expert advice and assistance to teachers and students during practical science sessions.
  • Curriculum Assistance: Offer technical insights and help develop practical components of the science curriculum.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure adherence to safety and security protocols in line with school policies.
  • Training and Mentoring: Guide and mentor new technicians through the BSTTP, providing practical support and health and safety training.

As a Science Technician in Hillingdon, you will be pivotal in delivering essential technical support, ensuring seamless and safe practical lessons, and contributing to the training and growth of new technicians through our innovative BSTTP.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated experience as a Science Technician or in a comparable technical role.
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, safety protocols, and best practices.
  • Expertise in utilising modern technology and ICT tools effectively.
  • Exceptional organisational abilities with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong collaborative skills and effective communication with both staff and students.
