Are you passionate about science and eager to inspire the next generation of budding scientists? We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Science Technician to join the science department at a thriving secondary school in Lambeth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up equipment and materials for science practicals, ensuring health and safety protocols are followed.
  • Manage the inventory of lab equipment, chemicals, and supplies, ensuring they are well-stocked and organised.
  • Support teachers and students during practical lessons, offering technical guidance when needed.
  • Maintain and calibrate lab equipment, ensuring everything is in good working order.
  • Oversee health and safety regulations in the lab, ensuring a safe environment for staff and students.
  • Assist with the disposal of hazardous waste in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Collaborate with the Science Department to develop engaging practical resources and demonstrations.
  • Support school events by assisting with science demonstrations and experiments.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in a lab setting, especially within a school, is preferred.
  • A keen interest in science and a solid understanding of basic scientific principles.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage tasks efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on health and safety compliance.
  • Good communication skills for effective collaboration with teachers, students, and staff.
  • Familiarity with lab equipment and basic scientific software.
  • A proactive attitude and ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
  • A science-related qualification or experience in laboratory techniques is beneficial but not essential.
