Are you passionate about science and eager to support the next generation of budding scientists? Our vibrant and forward-thinking secondary school in Southwark is looking for a dedicated Science Technician to join our team and provide essential support to our Science Department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Laboratory Preparation: Set up and prepare equipment and materials for practical science lessons across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Ensure all lab equipment is clean, well-maintained, and stored safely, performing routine checks and minor repairs as necessary.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to and enforce health and safety regulations, ensuring a safe learning environment for students and staff.
  • Stock Management: Organise and manage chemical and equipment inventories, including ordering new supplies when needed.
  • Classroom Support: Assist teachers during science practicals, offering hands-on support to students when appropriate.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records related to equipment use, maintenance, and health and safety protocols.
Requirements:
  • DBS Certification: A DBS on the Update Service is essential for this role.
  • Experience: Prior experience as a Science Technician is preferred but not essential. Training will be provided to candidates who demonstrate enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
  • Skill Set: Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail, and an understanding of laboratory health and safety practices.
