Band 7 Mental Health Occupational Therapist Role 

Job Title: Locum Occupational Therapist

Location: Wanstead and surrounding areas/ Some working from home

Start Date: ASAP

End Date: Ongoing

• To lead the occupational therapy provision within the adult autism service.

• To take a lead role in the development and management of the pre-diagnostic and brief post-diagnostic service provision.

• To lead on providing pre- and post-diagnostic support, in particular specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions, including those addressing clients’ sensory needs and their impact on daily living.

• To undertake occupational therapy assessments, including assessment of function, occupation, sensory processing and executive functioning, and work with clients to help them develop skills and strategies to improve their function and quality of life.

• To provide consultation and liaison to other professionals working with autistic individuals.

• To work as an effective member of the multi-disciplinary team

 • Experience of working as an occupational therapist in a range of clinical settings.

• Good understanding of the needs and difficulties experienced by autistic adults.

• Knowledge and experience of working with complex mental health problems.

• Understanding of clinical risk assessment and management.

• To demonstrate good organisational and time management skills, including to be innovative and work on own initiative and prioritise own workload.

• Able to work effectively and flexibly in a team and variety of environments.

• To be able to travel efficiently throughout the area.
