Desalination Project Manager
Description & Background:
Sizewell C is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk that has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project aims to provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, supporting Britain's Net Zero 2050 goals. An opportunity has arisen to lead the development of a new seawater desalination plant, treating seawater to potable standards for both domestic and industrial use, addressing the gap from expected delays in mains water supply.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of the Seawater Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant
- Oversee design, installation, and operation in the Temporary Construction Area
- Manage intake/outtake pipelines and Marine Pumping Station Compound
- Ensure integration of all MEPICA elements
- Coordinate safety, health, and environmental practices
- Manage technical processes, risks, and change requirements
- Maintain project timelines and budgetary controls
- Lead stakeholder engagement and team management
Experience Required:
- Understanding of potable drinking water desalination systems and UK regulations
- Experience in utility project management for large-scale construction and experience with nuclear power projects or high-compliance environments
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
- Advanced negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Design and Build experience with water systems
- Knowledge of environmental management practices
