MERJE is seeking a highly detail-oriented Compliance Assistant to join a leading insurance group. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable exposure to compliance processes within the insurance industry, working closely with internal stakeholders and external business partners.

The Role

The Compliance Assistant role involves supporting the Compliance Manager for Appointed Representatives (ARs) & Introducers (IARs). Key responsibilities include due diligence, FCA submissions, oversight, and monitoring of ARs and IARs. This position offers hands-on experience in regulatory compliance within a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Compliance Assistant:

  • Assist in assessing new proposals and preparing documentation for onboarding ARs and IARs
  • Draft and submit FCA applications, ensuring all standing data is up-to-date
  • Implement risk-based monitoring plans for ARs & IARs
  • Conduct Fit & Proper assessments for Approved Persons
  • Support the review and approval process for introducers and commission-sharing agreements

Required knowledge and experience for the Compliance Assistant role:

  • Previous experience in compliance within the insurance industry or regulated environment
  • Familiarity with FCA regulations, particularly those relating to appointed representatives
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify compliance-related issues
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team
  • Desirable: Compliance-related qualification (e.g., Certificate in Compliance, CII, ICA)
