Our client is seeking a Compliance Officer with a strong background in file reviewing and a deep understanding of FCA COBs, particularly suitability. This role offers the opportunity to work within an established Central Compliance team, reporting directly to the Compliance Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting file reviews against Suitability requirements and internal standards, ensuring the highest level of compliance.

What you'll do:

As a Compliance Officer, your primary responsibility will be conducting thorough file reviews, ensuring that all financial and investment advice given aligns with the Financial Conduct Authority's suitability requirements. You'll work closely with front office staff, addressing any issues identified during these reviews. Your role will also involve conducting pre-sale file review checks for advice on higher risk products. You'll be instrumental in creating management information that allows the firm to measure and report on the ongoing standards of client files. Collaboration will be key as you liaise with wider Compliance and Risk teams when necessary. A solid understanding of the regulatory framework relevant to your role is essential, as is practising effective risk management.

  • Review client files to ensure financial and investment advice meet FCA's overarching suitability requirements.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Compliance Officer position brings extensive experience in conducting file reviews within a Wealth Management firm or an audit/consultancy role in the Wealth Management sector. You possess a strong understanding of FCA COBS rules, particularly Suitability and Pension Transfers. Your analytical skills are top-notch, and you have a keen eye for detail. You're capable of reviewing large amounts of information while providing a concise view of the client file. Your report-writing skills are strong, and you can work quickly and accurately under tight deadlines. A pro-active individual with a 'can-do' approach, you're comfortable working with people at all levels. While Level 4 qualifications such as a Diploma in Financial Planning/Regulated Financial Planning would be advantageous, they are not necessary. Good knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint is required, and familiarity with SharePoint would be beneficial.
