We’re partnering with a leading lending company based in London who is on the lookout for a proactive and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to join their dynamic and supportive team. Role Objectives:In this key role, you will ensure the company operates in a compliant, legal, and ethical manner while driving business objectives. You will be responsible for overseeing the company's adherence to policies and procedures and providing vital regulatory compliance support to internal teams. As part of a close-knit team, you'll work alongside the Head of Compliance, assisting in risk management, governance, and regulatory reporting, including presenting compliance updates to the Exec and Board.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice to first-line teams on regulatory matters, ensuring smooth operational flow.
  • Review and update company policies and procedures regularly to ensure compliance with current regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Team to carry out risk-based audits and monitoring activities.
  • Identify and investigate potential financial crimes, including fraud and money laundering, ensuring the integrity of operations.
  • Support the handling of customer complaints in line with regulatory guidelines and company policies.
  • Deliver colleague training in accordance with the company’s Training & Competence policy.
  • Prepare compliance reports and presentations for the Executive Committee/Board.

Key Attributes & Requirements:

  • Experience in compliance within financial services, with a preference for secured lending or mortgages.
  • Strong complaint-handling and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • A keen eye for detail, strong planning and organisational skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Proactive, with a strong team ethos and a willingness to take on more responsibility for personal growth.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Awareness of the FCA’s regulatory framework (preferably with knowledge of mortgage sector regulation).

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in the first or second charge mortgage market is highly beneficial.
