Risk and Compliance Officer - Legal Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

Based in Soho, West End

50% Hybrid Role - 2 - 3 days in office

A top 500 full-service law firm is looking for a Risk and Compliance Officer to join their team based in Soho. You will work to ensure the smooth running of the risk and compliance and ensure the firm meets its regulatory objectives. Looking for a proactive candidate with good knowledge of AML and CDD.

The ideal Risk and Compliance Officer must have worked in the legal industry most recently for 2 years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with regular file reviews
  • Reviewing and analysing CDD and on occasion liaising directly with clients to obtain CDD
  • Liaising with fee earners, secretaries and finance where necessary
  • Conducting sanctions and adverse media checks on clients as required
  • Assisting in the ongoing monitoring of high-risk clients
  • Reviewing database when notified of sanctions updates
  • Maintaining risk registers
  • Assisting with the development of training for fee earners and support staff
  • Providing administrative support to Head of Risk and Compliance
  • Keeping up to date with risk and compliance changes
  • Assisting in reviewing and updating policies and procedures

Experience Required:

  • 2 years Risk and Compliance experience within Legal
  • Excellent understanding of AML and CDD requirements
  • A positive, proactive, practical and flexible approach to the role
  • Strong commercial awareness, and the ability to manage their workload independently
  • Good understanding of IT systems - use of Legal software (desirable)
  • Ambitious, self-motivated, energetic, with excellent communication skills
