Sterling Williams are working closely with a growing FinTech/Electronic Money Institution (EMI) in hiring a Senior Compliance Analyst - this will likely suit candidates with a minimum of 4/5 years of experience in Compliance and Financial Crime Compliance, with a preference to those working in FinTech/Payments/EMI/Blockchain.

Senior Compliance Analyst

Permanent - Based in the office 4 days per week, with 1 day working from home

West End of London

Reporting into the Deputy MLRO & MLRO,you will play a critical role in ensuring that the company remains compliant with all regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal policies. You will collaborate closely with various teams to identify, mitigate, and manage compliance risks while overseeing the implementation of effective compliance programs and controls.

  • Onboard customers, carrying out KYC and AML compliance checks in line with the Company’s onboarding policies and procedures.
  • Assist with FCA RegData regulatory reporting
  • Produce Client based risk assessments
  • Act as a point of escalations for high-risk clients.
  • Ensure Periodic Reviews are conducted on existing clients
  • Carry out daily transaction monitoring and data validation.
  • Investigate and review transactions that have exceeded set thresholds.
  • Deal with ad-hoc queries from the business on routine Compliance matters under reference to members of the Compliance & Risk team.
  • Provide ad hoc assistance to the Compliance team on projects and queries, requests from senior management.
  • Provide ad hoc training sessions with non-compliance staff involved in client case submissions
  • Assist the MLRO and/or deputy MLRO in preparation of reports and case submissions to the Account Opening and/or Risk Committees
  • Contribute to the preparation of the MLRO Annual report to Management.
  • Liaise with external Auditors particularly on AML and Safeguarding Audits
  • Asist the Internal Audit function and with periodic firm wide risk assessments

The successful candidate will likely have:

  • Proven experience as a Compliance Officer or Senior Compliance Analyst
  • Knowledge of legal requirements and controls (e.g., EU Money Laundering Directives, FCA Handbook)
  • Familiarity with industry practices and professional standards
  • Familiarity with FCA Guidance and rule book and relevant publications e.g., JMLSG
  • Strong understanding of financial regulations, including AML, KYC (Know Your Customer), and payment systems regulations.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic and fast paced environment.
  • Able to work under pressure and efficiently manage time and workload
  • Experience in risk management
  • Knowledge of Financial Regulations, familiarity with the Financial Conduct Authority, Payment Services Regulation, Anti-Money Laundering Directives
  • Familiarity with GDPR data protection regulation and standards
  • Knowledge of Blockchain/Cryptocurrency, EMI or FinTechs field is a plus
  • BSc/BA/Bcom in law, finance, business administration or a related field
  • Professional certification (e.g., ICA) is a plus
