Senior Customs & Compliance Manager | London (2 days per week in the office) | £80,000-£90,000 | Permanent role | Multichannel Retailer

A Senior Customs Manager is required to work for a multi-million turnover consumer business permanently in Central London (hybrid working). The business has achieved record-breaking sales over the past 12 months and is continuing to drive growth across the group by entering new international markets and through acquisitions, revenues are expected to grow by £100 million+ in the next year.

This is a newly created role, reporting to the Head of Tax, and will be managing a team of 2. The role has been created due to the international growth and the need for someone to now lead the group's global customs compliance.

Responsibilities include:

  • Be the subject matter expert providing clear customs compliance advice on domestic and international trade compliance activity matters
  • Leading and developing a team of two
  • Ensuring import and export shipments conform to governmental rules and regulations by managing inquiries, and requests from brokers, forwarders, manufacturing sites, distribution centres, etc
  • Manage a customs warehouse implementation project and wider roll out of improved processes
  • Support the budget, forecasting and monitoring processes from a customs duty perspective
  • Drive strategy and planning around customs including advising on change initiatives from a customs perspective

Skill set required:

The successful candidate will have experience working in a customs and compliance role, operating at Senior Manager level. You will have proven examples of where you have driven process improvement and change across global customs. You will ideally be CTA or ADIT qualified however this is not essential. You will have managed customs projects including creating workflows. You will have strong stakeholder management experience and the natural ability to be able to influence and challenge.
