The Greater London Authority are looking to recruit a Senior Policy and Programme Officer to join the Environment and Energy unit, specifically within the Waste and Circular Economy team, on a 6-month interim basis. The postholder will be responsible for helping to implement the Mayors priorities on waste, recycling and circular economy as set out in the London Environment strategy.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Support the review of plans, strategies, and contracts to ensure London is on track to meet the Mayor’s commitments
  • Engage regularly with boroughs and stakeholders to facilitate waste reduction and increases in recycling rate.
  • Report progress to Senior Stakeholders, including the Deputy Mayor.
  • Contribute to briefings, Mayor's questions, and public enquiries.
  • Stay updated on legislative, technical, and policy changes in the environment field.
  • Analyse data and evidence to support the development of strategies, policies, and programmes.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in environmental policy with strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and policy delivery skills at the local level.
