Service Care Legal are working alongside a London Borough Council who are seeking a Legal Officer to provide legal advice and guidance on Property matters to the Homebuy and Property Compliance teams, supporting the council's objectives. This role involves preparing legal documents and providing advice on areas such as Right to Buy, Lease Extensions, and land acquisitions.

ROLE: Legal Officer (Planning and Property)
LOCATION: West London
CONTRACT: 6-Month Maternity Cover
RATE: 25.00 to 30.00 per hour LTD (DOE and interview performance)

Please note that the role would require office attendance 1 day per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare legal documents and provide advice on Right to Buy, Lease Extensions, Collective Enfranchisement, and other property matters.
  • Manage the creation and discharge of mortgages and assist with title investigations.
  • Support senior lawyers with compulsory purchase orders and other key processes.
  • Contribute to the training of junior staff and ensure high-quality service delivery within deadlines.

Skills and Experience

  • Law degree or equivalent would be essential.
  • Knowledge of Property law, with a willingness to develop expertise in Planning, Highways, and Licensing.
  • Previous local authority working experience within property law would be essential.
  • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
