Role profile: Ethics and Integrity Operations Assistant (Freelance role - 12 months contract)

Reports to: Ethics and Integrity Senior Operations Manager

Overall role summary:

This role reports in to and supports the Ethics and Integrity Senior Operations Manager to implement and monitor across T&F journals, the effective deployment of required research integrity and ethics checks via new or refined tools and processes, the consistent adherence of journals to editorial policies, and will work with the Content Integrity Screening team on the submissions at selected journals as required.

Specific tasks may include, but are not limited to:

  • Tools and processes:
    • Set up and coordinate tests and pilots of external and internal tools
    • Collect, analyse data and present results
  • Content Integrity Screening
    • Support the Senior Operations Manager in providing feedback to escalations from the team
    • Set up, coordinate and analyse results of journal audit
    • Update checklists and reference material as required

Knowledge and Qualifications

A postgraduate qualification in a relevant scientific discipline

Experience supervising editorial workflows on scholarly journals (preferably STM)

Excellent written communication skills

Strong understanding of research ethics and editorial policies relating to good publication practices and experience of content assessment

Knowledge and experience of process-driven workflows.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office software, content management and/or customer relationship management systems.
