Graduate Researcher/Administrator

Location: London EC1

Salary: £26,000 per annum

Our client was established over 25 years ago as a leading support within law worldwide. They are looking for an experienced Graduate, ideally in History but will consider Law or Humanities, to join their award-winning research team, working Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm. An interest in genealogy or family tree research is desirable.

For the first month of training, you will be required to attend the office near Shoreditch but after that you will be able to work hybrid, attending the office at least 2 days a week but otherwise based at home. There is a 6 months’ probation period, after which you will receive a full permanent contract, which offers 28 days holiday.

Duties: -

  • Research:
    • Background checks calling neighbours/care homes/councils/hospitals etc for information.
    • Tracing descendants / family tree research.
    • Chasing unsigned beneficiaries on active cases.
  • General administrative duties, to include:
    • Writing and sending letters to beneficiaries and clients.
    • Calling beneficiaries and clients.
    • Ordering of certificates & records online, in person or over the phone.
    • Arranging legalisation and translation of documents, as required.
    • Drafting and sending out commission agreements/administration documents including via Adobe Sign, as required.
    • Countersigning commission agreements.
  • Arranging visits with local representatives (and compiling associated documents).
  • Typing and compiling of interim reports and final solicitor reports.
  • Valuing new cases, as required.
  • Acting as a deputy for the PD Analyst during times of absence/annual leave.
  • Ensuring internal management system is kept up to date.
  • Attendance on various training days, as and when required or deemed necessary.
  • Advanced level of open communication within the Team, including support staff.
  • Willingness to offer flexibility with working patterns when required.
  • To undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by your Line Manager or case managers.

Skills, Knowledge, Education & Experience

Graduate ideally in History, Law or Humanities subject.

Research and admin skills.

Interest in history/genealogy/probate useful.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Methodical approach.

Comfortable with making/taking phone calls, experienced in dealing with complex personal situations.

Dealing professionally and skilfully with beneficiaries who may not respond well to being contacted.

Ability to effectively negotiate.

Ability to cope under pressure, work on own initiative and organise own workload.

Problem solving skills and the ability to respond to sudden unexpected demands.

Strong MS Office skills.
