Job DescriptionJob Title: Class Teacher (Year 5)Pay Range: Main Pay Scale - Inner London (£35k - £50k) Responsible to: Head Teacher

Reeson Education are working with a 2 form entry primary school in the heart of Notting Hill looking for a passionate and dedicated year 5 Teacher to join their team and hit the ground running. This year 5 Teacher will be responsible for driving the success of year 5 pupils towards their final year of primary and heading up pre SATS education.

Purpose of Role:

  • Teach pupils according to their learning and social needs. This will be done in accordance with the school, policies and requirements of the National Curriculum.
  • To ensure that all planning, preparation, recording, assessment and reporting, meet the educational needs of pupils.
  • Maintain a positive school ethos and core values of the school, both inside and outside of the classroom.
  • Contribute to constructive team-building amongst teaching and non-teaching staff, parents and governors.
  • Ensure that the current national conditions of employment for school teachers are met.

Duties:

  • Implement agreed school policies and guidelines.
  • Support initiatives decided by the Headteacher and staff.
  • Teach the national KS2 curriculum.
  • Plan appropriately to meet the needs of all pupils, through differentiation of tasks.
  • Be able to set clear targets, based on prior attainment, for pupils' learning.
  • Provide a stimulating classroom environment, where resources can be accessed appropriately by all pupils.
  • Keep appropriate and efficient records, integrating formative and summative assessment into weekly and termly planning.
  • Report to parents on the development, progress and attainment of pupils.
  • Maintain good order and discipline amongst pupils, in accordance with the school's behaviour policy.
  • Participate in meetings which relate to the school's management, curriculum, administration or organisation.
  • Communicate and co-operate with specialists from outside agencies.
  • Lead, organise and direct support staff within the classroom.
  • Participate in the performance management system for the appraisal of own performance, or that of other teachers.
  • To participate in weekly staff meetings.
  • The year 5 Teacher will share the school's commitment to safeguarding and promote the welfare of pupils.
  • Lead and support the development of other colleagues through effective mentoring leading to raised standards of teaching and learning in the school

Required:

  • UK QTS - ECT applicants are also encouraged to apply
  • Commitment to furthering training/professional development
  • Knowledge and understanding of the KS2 UK curriculum
  • Positive classroom management skills
  • The ability to plan, monitor, evaluate and review for pupils' progress
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively in a team with staff, governors and parents
  • Promotion or positive behaviour strategies and constructive handling of problems
  • Some knowledge of the theory and practice of providing effectively for the individual needs of all children (e.g. classroom organisation and learning strategies)
