A vibrant, two-form entry primary school in the heart of Islington is on the lookout for a passionate and dedicated Year 1 Class Teacher to join their team from September 2025. About the Role - Year 1 Class Teacher
The school is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Year 1 Class Teacher who can create a warm and engaging learning environment while delivering high-quality lessons tailored to young learners. The successful Year 1 Class Teacher will be responsible for full classroom duties and should be confident in planning and delivering effective lessons, particularly in Phonics and early literacy.
You'll be joining a friendly and well-supported team, where the Year 1 Class Teacher works closely with the parallel class teacher to plan exciting and enriching lessons that build on core skills. A solid understanding of the Phonics framework and strategies will be essential for this role.
Responsibilities - Year 1 Class Teacher
- Take full responsibility as a Year 1 Class Teacher, delivering lessons across the national curriculum
- Plan and lead daily Phonics sessions using a recognised scheme
- Create a nurturing and inclusive classroom where all pupils can thrive
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, tailoring interventions where necessary
- Work in partnership with parents, carers, and other staff to support every child
- Contribute to the wider school community and enrichment opportunities
The Ideal Candidate - Year 1 Class Teacher
To succeed as a Year 1 Class Teacher in this setting, you will need:
- QTS and recent experience teaching in a Year 1 setting
- Strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and Phonics delivery
- A positive, engaging teaching style that supports pupil development
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A passion for early education and a creative approach to teaching and learning
Previous experience teaching Phonics is highly desirable, as this forms a key focus in Year 1.
