The Opportunity:Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children with complex needs? Long Term Futures is looking for an experienced and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a specialist provision within a school in Hackney. This role involves providing tailored support to pupils with a range of complex needs, enabling them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children with complex needs, including profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), or severe learning difficulties (SLD).
  • A strong understanding of strategies to support pupils with sensory, communication, and mobility challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children with additional needs.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to individual pupil requirements.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils with complex needs.
  • Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Supporting pupils with personal care needs, where required, including feeding and mobility assistance.
  • Creating and maintaining a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborating with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure each child receives tailored support.
  • Encouraging the development of independence, communication, and social skills.
