Experienced Teaching Assistant - SEND Education

We are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant dedicated and passionate about supporting children with special educational needs. The school, based in Lewisham, caters for children and young adults from 5 to 18 years old with varied SEND needs, such as Autism, SEMH, severe learning difficulties, and Complex Needs.

Your role as a Teaching Assistant will be to support the pupil on a 1:1 basis with their learning development and care needs while at school. Experience working with children with special educational needs is essential. However, we will also provide training. Experience working within a school-based environment is critical, as you are required to have basic knowledge and understanding of supporting children within an educational setting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Experience supporting young adults or children in education
  • Experience or willingness to assist with personal care
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively
  • A valid DBS registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new DBS.
  • Available 5 days a week and able to commit to at least 1-6 months
