We are recruiting on behalf of a primary school with a specialist Year 5/6 Autism Resource Provision (ARP) class supporting children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This class has a small group size of up to 7 students and is supported by 2 experienced teaching assistants. This role is ideal for a teacher who is consistent, compassionate, and committed to providing a supportive learning environment for students with additional needs.Key Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging, tailored lessons to meet the unique needs of students with autism and SEMH, creating a calm and structured learning environment.
  • Collaborate closely with 2 teaching assistants to provide consistent and targeted support for each student.
  • Implement and adapt individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies as needed.
  • Foster social, emotional, and academic development, using a range of techniques to help students build confidence and independence.
  • Attend training provided in CPI Safety Intervention, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in SEND or ARP settings (preferable).
  • Experience working with students with autism and SEMH needs at the primary level.
  • Strong behaviour management skills, with an empathetic, calm, and consistent approach.
  • Ability to commit fully through to the end of the academic year, ensuring continuity for students.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, working collaboratively with TAs and other staff.
